What We Believe

We are, first of all, Christians, in the truest sense of the word. We confess that Jesus Christ is the world's only Savior and Redeemer. As Christ Himself said, "I the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Jn 14:6.

We are also "Lutheran" Christians." Martin Luther, the Father of the Reformation, spoke against Church policies, practices, and beliefs that were inconsistent with the truth of God's Word as found in the Bible. Eventually, he and others were forced to break from the established Church in order to remain true to the Word. This all occurred in the 16 century. (In fact, the Lutheran Church is the oldest Evangelical Church in the world). Much has changed in the Christian Church since then, but Orthodox Lutherans have remained faithful to God's Word as understood by the earlier Church theologians. Dr. Luther's exposition of Holy Writ, together with other ancient scholars, as well as scholars of his day and since, have guided a right understanding and faith ever since. Although Holy Scripture is our sole source and norm for the Christian faith, we also have excellent expositions of Scripture contained in the Lutheran Confessions, Small and Large Catechisms (books of instruction in the Lutheran Christian faith) and many and various writings by Lutheran theologians over the centuries.

For a concise definition of what we believe, teach and confess, I would suggest that you read a copy of the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds (statements of belief). Lutherans use these two Ancient Church Creeds each week to confess what we believe.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to bring the life-saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone who has ears to hear us. We desire that everyone confess Jesus as Lord and King, so that, through faith in His person and work, they may have an eternal place with Him in His kingdom at the resurrection. How do we do that? Proclaim the Gospel. Live our lives in accordance with God's will. Keep Jesus at the center of everything. Remember always that His is the glory - not ours. It's a full-time job!

Our vision for the future is that more and more people would repent of that which creates distance between them and God so that they, too, can bask in the mercy and forgiveness God wishes for them. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jn 3:16
